My new favorite comedian

Maybe I'm a little behind in the times, but my husband and I just discovered Jim Gaffigan. I think he's so funny and I strongly recommend "Beyond the Pale" on DVD. We were laughing so hard we were crying and we had to rewind segments because we missed what he was saying!

You gotta love a comedian whose main material is about food. ;) Funny, funny stuff...

Interested in photography?

I was just scanning craigslist and there are some great deals on DSLR's. I found Canon 10D and 20D bodies for $300-400. This is pretty much the price of a high end point and shoot. Camera bodies are like computers they are constantly being upgraded. As people upgrade to the newest thing, it is a great time to take over their gently used equipment. Lenses, however, are pretty much a constant so in my opinion it is best to invest in good quality lenses.

Just some food for thought!

Minne-snow-ta

Let me just say I am very jealous of anyone on vacation right now.

Photo Shoot, Part One

This is my 500th blog post! I've had such a fun time blogging! My first blog post was on August 3rd, 2006. What's really sad is, sometimes as life is happening I'll think to myself, "Oh, I can't wait to post that on my blog!"

Yesterday, the photo girls and I had our first family shoot at Eliesa's studio in NE Minneapolis. What a crazy experience! I had twice the stress because not only was I going into it as shooting a session, but my family was scheduled to arrive during the last time slot so I had to switch over from photographer to subject. It was a great experience because now I know how my clients feel! It is so different being on the other side of the lens. I also got a few head shots of myself for my website and that was so uncomfortable! At any given time, there were 5 different lenses pointed at me! I have to be one of the least photogenic people so I can't wait to see what they got.

Here is part one of shooting day one. This post includes the ladies in action and a few of the actual ladies themselves. Later, I'll post more of the resulting images from our shoot. The shoot was missing Erin's family who was originally scheduled but her daughter got sick at the last minute.

MN Zoo

We spent some family time at the MN Zoo on Saturday. I haven't been there since 2004 when Aidan was a baby. Owen has been asking to go to the zoo so we thought that sounded like a good idea. We ended up getting a membership hoping to go more often since Owen had such a good time. He held the zoo map the entire time and was determined to see every animal on the map. The membership also covers 100 other zoos across the country. We saw just about everything and ended our day with a ride on the monorail.

Olivia's Creations

Here are a sample of the frames I used to paint. They were designed to be personalized with your child's name.
