MOA Tulip Show

I took the boys out to the tulip show at the Mall of America yesterday. I'm not sure if it was quite what I expected, but it was refreshing to see some flowers in the dead of winter anyway. Afterwards, we paid a little visit to my sister to pick up my new monitor (19 inch flat panel!). I got a cute picture of Owen trying to hear baby Sophia.

Aidan

Following my New Year's Resolution of taking more pictures of my kids, I got these shots of Aidan today. I was playing with my 85mm and he just happened to ham it up. These were all shot within a matter of a minute. This is all he gave me but it was all I needed!

Peggy and Brad

Today, I shot Peggy and Brad for some 10th anniversary photos. We shot at Edinborough Park in Edina. What a great facility! It is a large indoor park for kids, including a pool, basketball court, and huge indoor playground. It worked out great for our shoot. Although, at times, we had an audience watching us. Congrats on your 10th anniversary guys! You still got it!

Look what we got!

We've been talking about getting one of these pizza ovens and it just so happened that I checked the classifieds at work and someone was selling a brand new commercial grade oven for $50! I jumped on it and we enjoyed a tasty pizza the other night- cooked to perfection!

Blanket Series

My beloved little Aidan, now nicknamed Linus, LOVES his blankie. He carries it with him wherever he goes. I decided to start a blanket series and create an album for him of all of these photos. I've got 3 so far. I just need to get better at remembering to snap his photo! I also managed to snap these wonderful photos of Owen.

Baby Shower

I threw a baby shower for my sister today at her house. It was so much fun! It was a great gathering of friends and family from near and far. My best friend Jenni happens to be in town right now visiting from Washington State so she hung out with us today. I was so busy being hostess that I forgot to snap photos of all of the yummy food that I made! :(

Jen Cress was a guest but was gracious enough to snap these photos for me. ;)

My beautiful and very preggo sister!

I'm so happy that my sister let me shoot these. I hope that someday long after baby Sophia is here, she'll cherish these.

First Wedding of the Year

I shot my first wedding of the year today. It wasn't a wedding of my own, I assisted for Bellagala. Heidi was supposed to be the lead today, but she ended up having emergency surgery on Monday and obviously wasn't able to shoot a wedding. Man, surgery has popped up more than once recently. My friend in Indiana also has to have surgery this month for her thyroid. It's weird to be only 29 and 30 and to have those kind of health problems! I guess that is one thing we all take for granted.

The bride was heartbroken when Heidi had to break the news. Sarah was the reserve photographer so she shot the wedding instead. It was my first time meeting Sarah but she was a breeze to work with. It's interesting to see the different ways photographers work. It either motivates you to change or motivates you to continue to do things your way.

It has been so cold out so a good majority of the photos were taken indoors. I'm not sure why people choose to get married during the winter. Cold is not wedding friendly. Outdoor wedding photography is so amazing, I can't see why anyone would give that up. We did make a quick stop at the Stone Arch Bridge and the girls actually went a few mintues with no jackets! It was FREEZING but those ended up being the best pictures of the day. I'm confident that the bride will think so as well. It was the entire wedding party and it was nothing but high energy and lots of hootin' and hollerin.' The lighting was AMAZING. I'm so glad they were up for braving the cold!

I'm SO jealous of Sarah! She will be on a plane tomorrow morning headed to Hawaii! Not only that, but she will be staying with her friend who happens to be a dolphin trainer! She gets to hang out in Hawaii and swim with dolphins! Did I mention how JEALOUS I was?!

Noah's 6th Birthday

It was my little cousin Noah's golden birthday on the 6th. We attended his b-day party on the 7th in St. Paul. My cousin Missy (Noah's mom) was very brave and hosted 30+ kids including all of the kids in Noah's class. I can't believe he's 6 already!

Bella is just so darn cute! She just kept looking at me when I had my camera!

Bowling

We took the boys bowling on Saturday. I wasn't able to bowl so I brought along my camera to entertain myself. Aidan is now able to bowl. He knows not to step over the line and everything. Notice the placement of his feet in the photo.

The best part of bowling is the food!

A big day!

Today was a big day! It is me and my husband's 9th anniversary as a couple- not our wedding anniversary. It is also my sister-in-law's birthday.

Other exciting events happened today such as booking another wedding! I met with Lesa tonight and she booked me on the spot. We ended up chatting for 2 hours, most of the time not even about wedding photography. ;) It was great meeting her and I'm excited to shoot her wedding July 7th. 07-07-07! Apparently, she was telling people last week that she had "found her photographer" BEFORE she had even met with me!

I got home from my appointment with a great surprise- my new camera had arrived! Of course I had to try it out so here are some random shots. My favorite is the giant LCD screen on the back. It's practically double the size of my old one. It almost feels like I'm viewing a little TV or something. Also making its debut- my new 85mm f/1.8 lens.

Mommy jewelry

I came across this site awhile back and actually ordered one of these necklaces for my best friend with the names of her two kids on it. It was a big hit and she wears it everyday.

Just thought I'd post this since Valentine's Day is coming up.

It's a cute gift idea!
