Kannika and Family

Kannika booked me to capture shots of her entire family. She brought along her parents, her brother and sister, her brothers and sister-in-law, and her niece and nephews. We shot out at Centennial Lakes Park on a gorgeous Friday evening. She had everyone dress in brown and pink to match my website colors! hehe (no, not really)

Spring Photo Shoot Event

The event was a huge success! I finally had the weather on my side. I was a little nervous on Friday because they kept saying 40 or 50% chance of rain... well wouldn't you know it was sunny and in the 80's all day long. In fact, in the afternoon it got rather HOT!

I know you all were expecting or hoping to see the photos from all of the sessions today, but as it turns out, the long day in the heat really took its toll on me and I spent most of the night and Sunday aching and in pain! My poor back and all of that lugging around heavy cameras. But it really is KILLING me not to be able to show them to you all! Honestly!

State of the Studio Address

I thought I would post some updated pics of the studio. It really looks worse than before, but we're actually making progress. Andy has the day off tomorrow so it's being devoted to my studio and my new floors! He'll put the wood floors in tomorrow. I'm picking up paint and making two IKEA runs this weekend in between shooting. Hopefully by mid-next week it will be something much more appealing! Oh, and I also ordered my custom door sign today which will be ready to pick up on Monday! It's really becoming mine!

Aero Systems Engineering

I spent the morning out at Fleming Field in S. St. Paul. My friend Jamie who used to work with me at Ameriprise, contacted me to cover the 40th anniversary celebration for the new company that she works for. Aero Systems Engineering designs and creates wind tunnels and test cells for airplanes. It is really amazing what they do.

The employees were shuttled to Fleming Field in coach busses and treated to a wonderful looking breakfast. The pancake cook was the main attraction. He had a special griddle and dispenser and could cook dozens of pancakes at a time. He kept everyone on their toes by flipping their pancakes to them while they caught them with their plate! It was so funny to watch as hardly anyone was prepared to catch their breakfast. We wrapped up the shoot with an all employee team photo in front of a B-25 bomber on the tarmac. Congratulations guys!

Canon EF 10-22mm

I rented a wide angle today for a corporate event I'm shooting tomorrow. I had a little fun with it and our dog Cherokee today! I was also able to use my Macro outside and got a few nature shots.

I have a busy weekend coming up so stay tuned for lots of new photos! Tomorrow I've got a company event for Aerosystems Engineering. I'll be doing an all-employee photo out at Fleming Field with a bomber plane. Friday, I've got a family shoot, Saturday is my all-day Spring Photo Shoot Event at Lake Harriet, and Sunday I've got another family shoot. That is a LOT of photos in one weekend, wow!

On Sunday, I get to pick up my new studio furniture and I'm hoping to have it all wrapped up by next week! I keep getting requests to have an open house and I'm thinking about it, but I'm not sure when?

Monie and Chris- May 12, 2007

It is 2:45 am and I'm blogging. I am very dedicated to my clients!

What can I say about Monie and Chris? These two should be spokespeople for marriage! All day, they were so loving towards each other and Chris is this gigantic softy! He always looked at Monie so tenderly and couldn't get enough of expressing his love. They really took the time and appreciated every second of their special day.

We shot their "engagement session" at the Lake Harriet Rose Gardens, which is Monie's favorite place on Earth, literally. Tulips also happen to be her favorite flower and they were in high bloom! We had a wonderful warm day and it was also MY 6 year wedding anniversary. I also had gorgeous weather 6 years ago. It must be a lucky date!

New Toy!

I'm picking up a new toy tomorrow. I found an AMAZING deal on a used macro lens that I have been wanting forever. I planned on getting this new later this summer but happened to check craigslist and noticed a new "photo and video" section. It piqued my curiosity and lo and behold, the macro lens was the first listing! I replied back the SECOND I saw it not thinking for a chance that I would end up with it. The seller wrote me back and told me he had an overwhelming number of replies but I was the first one! I feel like I won the lottery! The lens is practically half off.

FYI- a macro is used for close-up photography. I could take a photo of the head of a screw and fill the entire frame of the picture. They're so amazing. Perfect for ring shots and tiny baby fingers and toes! Too bad the centipede wasn't around a few days later... I could have gotten pictures of its beatty little eyes!

OF COURSE I will post pics once I get to play around with it!
